Baseball Game Preview: Franklin Wildcats vs. Ross Rams

Franklin is 0-5 against Ross since May of 2016 but things could change on Friday. The Wildcats will look to defend their home field against the Rams at 5:00 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Franklin took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They walked away with a 10-7 win over Dayton Christian. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Wildcats considering their one-run performance the game before.

Talon Conrad looked comfortable as he pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Franklin is 4-2 when Conrad allows one or fewer earned runs, but 6-8 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Austin Hurst was incredible, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Luke Eyink, who went 2-for-4 with two runs.

Meanwhile, it may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Ross ultimately got the result they hoped for. They had just enough and edged out Franklin 2-1. The victory continues a trend for the Rams in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now won five in a row.

Ross pushed their record up to 10-7 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Franklin, the win got them back to even at 10-10.
