Football Game Preview: Lamar Raiders vs. Cathedral Green Wave

The Lamar Raiders will face off against the Cathedral Green Wave at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

Lamar will head out to face Cathedral after giving up their first home loss of the season last Friday. The Raiders received a blow as they fell 38-22 to Heritage Academy.

Despite their defeat, Lamar saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Sullivan Reed, who threw for 312 yards and three TDs, was perhaps the best of all. Reed's passing game has become a key predictor of the Raiders' success: the team is 6-1 when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 1-3 otherwise. Jalin Trotter was Reed's top target, picking up 142 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Even if they lost, Lamar's defensive line still kept up the pressure with three sacks. Briggs Calvert was especially locked on to Heritage Academy's QB and sacked him twice.

Meanwhile, with a playoff win on the line, Cathedral rose to the challenge on Friday. They managed an 18-14 victory over the Mustangs.

Cathedral has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season. As for Lamar, their loss dropped their record down to 7-4.
