Basketball Recap: Bradey Schiffman's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Weber over Syracuse

Weber lost against Syracuse back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Weber Warriors lost 53-29 to the Syracuse Titans. While losing is never fun, the Warriors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked 61st, while the Titans are ranked 14th).

Weber lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Bradey Schiffman, who posted ten points and eight boards. Another player making a difference was Abby Sayer, who had eight points.

Leading Syracuse to victory were Maylee Anderson and Rachel McBride. Anderson went 5 of 11 en route to 13 points along with five rebounds and three steals, while McBride put up ten points in addition to eight boards and four steals. The dominant performance also gave McBride a new career-high in blocks (four). Grace Thomas was another key player, putting up four points and five assists.

Weber has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-6 record this season. As for Syracuse, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 12-2.

Weber will head out to take on Fremont at 5:15 p.m. on Friday. Fremont will roll in looking for their 13th straight win, something Weber surely won't give up without a fight. As for Syracuse, they will be playing at home against Davis at 5:15 p.m. on Friday. Syracuse is on a seven-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), Davis a three-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
