Baseball Recap: Montgomery County Comes Up Short

After flying high against Bourbon County on Wednesday, Montgomery County came back down to earth. The Indians came up short against the Powell County Pirates on Friday, falling 9-3. The defeat continues a trend for the Indians in their meetings with the Pirates: they've now lost three in a row.

Montgomery County saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Rex Turner, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one RBI.

Montgomery County's loss dropped their record down to 17-11. As for Powell County, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 10-16 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Montgomery County will square off against Wolfe County at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Indians' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Wolves have averaged an impressive 6.4 runs per game this season. As for Powell County, they will head out to challenge Fleming County at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
