Preview: Eastside Catholic Crusaders vs. Yelm Tornados
Eastside Catholic has enjoyed the comforts of home their last three games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will square off against the Yelm Tornados at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
With a playoff game on the line, Eastside Catholic rose to the challenge on Saturday. They walked away with a 17-7 win over the Lions. The score was all tied up 0-0 at the break, but Eastside Catholic was the (much) better team in the second half.
Among those leading the charge was Jeremiah Burroughs, who rushed for 172 yards and a touchdown while picking up 7.8 yards per carry.
Meanwhile, Yelm put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They strolled past Mount Tahoma with points to spare, taking the game 29-12.
Eastside Catholic pushed their record up to 9-2 with that victory, which was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 39.6 points per game. As for Yelm, their win bumped their record up to 12-0.
Eastside Catholic came up short against Yelm in their previous matchup back in December of 2022, falling 20-13. Can Eastside Catholic avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
