League recap: Fairview stuns Sardis in upset

The biggest upset of the week belonged to Sardis, who took down 142nd ranked Sardis, 55-44. Luke Bailey threw for 268 yards and three touchdowns and ran for 155 yards in the win.

Oneonta extended the longest winning streak in 4A Region 6 this week by beating St. Clair County, 49-0. The win marks eighth in a row for the the Redskins.

On the ground, the Lions' Toby Pee has rushed for 1524 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Clay Smith. The Locust Fork star has 37 catches for 656 yards.

The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place Oneonta takes on second place Sardis. Last week, Oneonta beat the Fighting Saints, while Sardis fell to Fairview.

Two of the top units in 4A Region 6 will face off this week when Gene Hill's team takes on Don Jacobs' team. The Lions' offense has recorded 353 points this season, making them No. 1 in the league, while the Redskins have permitted only 81 on the year.

Going into this week's game against Crossville, the Aggies' Bailey needs 157 passing yards to surpass 2,000 on the season. Accruing a total of 15 touchdowns this year, Bailey has thrown for 1843 yards with six interceptions.

Guntersville made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 6,983 from 7,587. The improvement came about via a 48-14 victory over Locust Fork last week.
