Baseball Recap: La Jolla Extends Winning Streak to Four

La Jolla extended their winning streak to four on Tuesday, bumping their season record up to 12-9 in the process. They blew past the Morse Tigers 10-3. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 2-0 on Monday.

Charlie Smith spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on five hits.

At the plate, Hank Hansen was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryan Kestler, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.

La Jolla always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .564. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

As for Morse, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-15-1 record this season. Their loss continues a trend for the squad, making it five in a row.

On Morse's side, they saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Moises Davison, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. Davison has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played. Another was Christian Fernandez, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI.

La Jolla will have a chance to go back-to-back against Morse: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
