Basketball Recap: Willow Spring Falls Despite Big Games from Amanda Mitchell and Taylor Gray

Willow Spring lost against Corinth Holders two weeks ago and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Willow Spring Storm took a 52-48 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Corinth Holders Pirates.

Despite the loss, Willow Spring had strong showings from Taylor Gray, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten boards, and Amanda Mitchell, who went 6 for 10 to rack up 16 points in addition to six rebounds and three blocks. Gray is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as she's posted one of at least 45% in the last 16 games she's played. Zariyah Mccord was another key player, putting up two points.

Even though they lost, Willow Spring smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in four consecutive matches.

Darla Lee was her usual excellent self, going 7 of 15 en route to 28 points for Corinth Holders. That makes it seven consecutive games in which Lee has scored at least a third of Corinth Holders' points. Another player making a difference was Jada Vanderhorst, who almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine rebounds.

Willow Spring's defeat dropped their record down to 11-8. As for Corinth Holders, the victory got them back to even at 10-10.
