Basketball Game Preview: Edinburg/South Fork Ponies vs. Ramsey Rams

Having just played yesterday, the Edinburg/South Fork Ponies will get right back to it and host the Ramsey Rams at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Edinburg/South Fork is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak.

On Wednesday, Edinburg/South Fork ended up a good deal behind Staunton and lost 52-36. While losing is never fun, the Ponies can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 318th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 116th).

Meanwhile, Ramsey lost to Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg at home by a 46-27 margin on Monday. The Rams have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Edinburg/South Fork will need focus on slowing down Kelsey Hayes, one of several Ramsey players who made an impact when they last played. She posted seven points and 21 boards. That's the most rebounds Hayes has posted since back in February of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Daisy Allen, who put up nine points and six boards.

Even though they lost, Ramsey smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in eight consecutive games.

Ramsey's loss dropped their record down to 5-13. As for Edinburg/South Fork, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 15-13.
