Basketball Recap: Vista Meridian Takes a Loss

Vista Meridian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They lost 54-31 to the Magnolia Science Academy Pirates. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Meridian Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 67-31 back in December of 2024.

Magnolia Science Academy can attribute much of their success to Carlos Ayala Rocha, who posted 19 points and five boards. Burak Keskinturk was another key player, putting up six points along with 11 rebounds and eight blocks.

Vista Meridian's loss dropped their record down to 1-10. As for Magnolia Science Academy, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-3 record this season.

Vista Meridian didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 42-34 defeat against Liberty Christian on the 25th. As for Magnolia Science Academy, they will venture away from home to face off against Eastside Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Magnolia Science Academy is coming into the game hot, having won their last five games.
