Basketball Game Preview: Aiken Fighting Green Hornets vs. Brookland-Cayce Bearcats

The Aiken Fighting Green Hornets will take on the Brookland-Cayce Bearcats at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Aiken is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering North Augusta just ended the team's four-game winning streak on Tuesday. They were dealt a 69-24 loss at the hands of the Yellow Jackets. The contest marked the Fighting Green Hornets' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Meanwhile, Brookland-Cayce played a tough matchup on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They had to suffer through a 67-27 loss at the hands of Gray Collegiate Academy. The Bearcats were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 33-9.

Aiken's defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 8-3. As for Brookland-Cayce, their loss dropped their record down to 8-6.

Everything went Aiken's way against Brookland-Cayce when the teams last played back in February of 2020, as Aiken made off with a 38-15 victory. Will Aiken repeat their success, or does Brookland-Cayce have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
