Football Game Preview: Spring Lions vs. MacArthur Generals + How To Watch

Spring has gone a perfect 8-0 against MacArthur recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Lions will welcome the Generals at 7:00 p.m. Spring's offense has struggled lately (they haven't scored a point in six consecutive games), something the team is no doubt ready to change.

Spring's offense might be in the hot seat on Friday considering what happened against Eisenhower on Saturday. They fell 6-0 to the Eagles.

Even if they lost, Spring's defense still kept up the pressure with six sacks. In that department, Chase Lewis was the leader with 2.5. He also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with seven. Enrinque Camerillo was another major factor on D, picking up 0.5 sacks and making 11 total tackles (4.0 for loss).

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask MacArthur). They blew past Aldine 48-0 on Friday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Generals as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

MacArthur's win came from a few key players Spring will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Ryan Smith, who threw for 288 yards and five touchdowns on only 14 passes. MacArthur's leading receiver Quan Reynolds was Smith's top target yet again, picking up 143 receiving yards and three TDs.

MacArthur's run defense was locked in: Aldine could only muster 2.5 yards per carry. While four picked up at least four total tackles, Reynolds stood above the rest. He picked up 143 receiving yards and three scores. MacArthur's run defense has been on the up-and-up: they allowed 3.8 yards per carry earlier this season, but they've only allowed 4.23 on average over their last three games.

Spring's loss dropped their record down to 0-6. As for MacArthur, their win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 2-4.

Everything came up roses for Spring against MacArthur in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 61-13 victory. Do the Lions have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Generals turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
