That's more bragging rights for Independence, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

 In other batting news,  the team  relied heavily on  Liam Jenks, who  scored two  runs while going 3-for-4.  Cy Jolliffe was another key contributor,  scoring a  run and  stealing two bases while going 1-for-4.
 Independence's victory bumped their record up to 11-4. As for Fairview, they now  have a losing record at 9-10.
 Independence will look to defend their home field  on Thursday against Oberlin at 5:00  p.m. As for Fairview, they will head out on the road to  square off against  Delta at 5:00  p.m.  on Tuesday.
