The Wayne Christian Eagles are taking a road trip to take on the Grace Christian Crusaders at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Wayne Christian sitting on three straight victories and Grace Christian on four.
Wayne Christian gave up the first runs on Thursday, but they didn't let that get them down. They came out on top against Faith Christian by a score of 7-4.

Riley Sutton was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off eight hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 13 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with three RBI and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on London Johnson, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Addison Mitchell, who went 3-for-4 with one run.
Wayne Christian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Grace Christian beat American Leadership Academy-Johnston 7-3 on Friday.
Like Wayne Christian, Grace Christian also got a great game from a two-way player: Victoria Thomas. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Thomas was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one double. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season.
In other batting news, Olivia Hochevar and Adison Gardner did most of the damage at the plate: Hochevar went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base, while Gardner got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Aubrey Gunter also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Wayne Christian's record is now 9-6. As for Grace Christian, their record now sits at 10-3.
Grace Christian's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Monday. Wayne Christian has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 10.9 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Grace Christian, though, as they've been averaging only 3.7 strikeouts. Will Wayne Christian keep running through batters, or will the Crusaders buck the trend?
Wayne Christian took their win against Grace Christian in their previous meeting back in April of 2023 by a conclusive 7-0 score. Do the Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Crusaders turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
