Basketball Recap: Manzano Takes a Loss

Manzano was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their 11th straight loss dating back to last season. They had to suffer through a 68-23 loss at the hands of the Hope Christian Huskies. The Monarchs lost against the Huskies in their previous head to head back in December of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 52-34 score last time.

When it comes to explaining why Manzano lost, don't look at Daira Solis. Despite the final result, she went 6-for-13 to rack up 12 points in addition to eight rebounds and three steals. Solis is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last three games she's played dating back to last season.

Leading Hope Christian to victory were Mia Bishop and Abrianna Bishop. Mia dropped a double-double with 16 points and 11 boards, while Abrianna posted 16 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Adalynn Day was another key player, putting up six points in addition to eight assists and three steals.

Manzano's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Manzano didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 51-46 victory against Belen on the 6th. As for Hope Christian, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 72-17 win against Moriarty on the 3rd.
