Baseball Recap: Madison County Comes Up Short

Madison County came into their game on Monday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against the Orange County Fighting Hornets, falling 11-1. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Fighting Hornets this season, with their most recent defeat being a 10-1 loss back in March.

Madison County saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hunter Watson, who went 2-for-3 with one run. Jack Gordon also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Madison County's loss dropped their record down to 1-11. As for Orange County, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-4-1 record this season.

Madison County will venture away from home to face off against Stonewall Jackson at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Orange County, they will welcome Goochland at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
