Preview: King Wolves vs. Norco Cougars
King is 8-2 against Norco since January of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The King Wolves will head out on the road to take on the Norco Cougars at 7:00 p.m. King has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 27.
King pushed their score all the way to 66 on Wednesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 71-66 hit to the loss column at the hands of Corona.
Despite their loss, King saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Jeremiah Davis, who scored 13 points along with nine assists and six rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. That's the first time this season that Davis posted eight or more assists. Another player making a difference was Mathias Tinker, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds.
Norco suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Wednesday. They were outmatched by Centennial at home and fell 89-49. Norco was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 50-29.
King has been struggling recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-16 record this season. As for Norco, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-11.
King beat Norco 72-60 in their previous meeting back in February of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for King since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
