Football Recap: Rico De La Hoya and Eduardo Garcia Lead the Defense for Clifton Win + How To Watch

Clifton barely beat Eastland the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Cubs put the hurt on the Mavericks with a sharp 28-6 win on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Cubs, who have now won three contests by 22 points or more so far this season.

It was another big night for Jackson Ritz, who rushed for 62 yards and one touchdown, and also threw for 65 yards and one TD. What's more, he racked up 110 passer rating, the most he's had since back in October of 2024.

Clifton didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Rico De La Hoya and Eduardo Garcia. Clifton received some extra help from Garcia, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.

The victory made it two in a row for Clifton and bumps their season record up to 5-1. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 31.5 points over those games. As for Eastland, they are on a seven-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6.

Looking ahead, Clifton will square off against Early at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Eastland, they will head out on the road to challenge Brady at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Mavericks will need to watch out since the Bulldogs have now posted at least 31 points in their last four games.
