Baseball Recap: Henderson County Find Success

Henderson County took a seven-run loss the last time they faced off against Evansville Central, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Colonels won by a run and slipped past the Bears 3-2. For the Colonels, this counts as revenge for the 8-1 victory the Bears walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2023.

Henderson County got a great performance from Cole Thompson as he struck out seven batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits (and only one walk). Thompson also tossed a walk, which is notable because the Colonels are 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 2-8 otherwise.

At the plate, Brody Belt was excellent, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

The win made it two in a row for Henderson County and bumps their season record up to 4-9. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 3 runs in those games. As for Evansville Central, they are on an eight-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-7.

Henderson County wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 7-6 win against Lyon County on the 18th. As for Evansville Central, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 13-0 victory against Evansville Bosse on the 17th.
