Basketball Recap: Spencer Parrill's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Golden City over Mcauley Catholic

It was a good run, but Golden City unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Thursday. They came up short against the McAuley Catholic Warriors, falling 64-44. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 484th, while the Warriors are ranked 206th).

Golden City's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Spencer Parrill, who posted 15 points in addition to six assists and four steals. Parrill has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last five times he's played. Jamison Menadue was another key player, going 8 for 19 on his way to 18 points and three steals.

Golden City now has a losing record at 9-10. As for McAuley Catholic, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 13-2.

Golden City will venture away from home to square off against Exeter at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for McAuley Catholic, they will welcome Wheaton at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. McAuley Catholic is facing Wheaton at the right time seeing as Wheaton is stuck on an eight-game losing streak.
