Basketball Game Preview: Gorham Rams vs. Thornton Academy Trojans

The Gorham Rams are taking a road trip to take on the Thornton Academy Trojans at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Friday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Gorham beat Scarborough 50-46.

Meanwhile, Thornton Academy entered their tilt with Bangor on Friday with six consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with seven. They claimed a resounding 65-34 win over the Rams. Given the Trojans' advantage in MaxPreps' Maine basketball rankings (they are ranked tenth, while the Rams are ranked 97th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Gorham's victory bumped their record up to 5-11. As for Thornton Academy, their win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-2.

Gorham came up short against Thornton Academy when the teams last played back in December of 2024, falling 62-49. Can Gorham avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
