Softball Game Preview: B O L D Warriors vs. Melrose Dutchmen

B O L D has won five straight games at home, while Melrose has won five straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Monday. The Warriors will welcome the Dutchmen at 5:00 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (B O L D 3, Melrose 1.7) so any runs scored will be well earned.

B O L D's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They came out on top against Minnewaska Area by a score of 5-0. The Warriors haven't had any issues with the Lakers recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Meanwhile, Melrose hadn't done well against Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Dutchmen walked away with a 5-2 victory over the Tigers.

Ellie Grieve spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on three hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Melrose let Allie Hoppe and Shantel Gruber run wild. Hoppe went 2-for-3 with one home run, while Gruber went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Those three RBI gave Gruber a new career-high.

Melrose's win bumped their record up to 11-0. As for B O L D, their victory bumped their record up to 9-3.
