Baseball Recap: Jackson Prep Makes It 25 in a Row at Home

Jackson Prep put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past Heritage Academy 13-3. Considering Jackson Prep has won four matchups by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Gardner Young made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out seven over four innings pitched. Young was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Kevin Roberts, JR was incredible, scoring a run while going 3-for-3. Carson Powell also deserves some recognition as he stolen his first stolen base of the season.

Jackson Prep was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .517. The last time their batting average was this high was back in March of 2024.

Jackson Prep pushed their record up to 5-0 with the victory, which was their 25th straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs over those games. As for Heritage Academy, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-4 record this season.

Jackson Prep will welcome Lamar at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (Jackson Prep: 3.8, Lamar: 3.4) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Heritage Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against Oak Hill Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
