Volleyball Recap: Mitchell Snaps Seven-Game Streak of Wins on the Road

After flying high against Weeki Wachee on Tuesday, Mitchell came back down to earth. The Mustangs came up short against the Wesley Chapel Wildcats on Thursday, falling 3-0. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Mustangs of the 3-1 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September of 2024.

Mitchell might've come up short, but they didn't make it easy on Wesley Chapel: every set was decided by three points or less. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-22, 25-22, 28-26.

Makaia Mohammed paced Mitchell's offense, picking up 12 kills. Mohammed got some help from Taylor Perkins and her 25 assists. Perkins was also solid from the service line: she led the team with four aces.

Mitchell's loss ended a seven-match streak of away wins and brought them to 19-5. As for Wesley Chapel, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-16.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Mitchell will face off against Land O' Lakes at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Wesley Chapel, they will square off against Pasco at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
