Basketball Recap: Blaine Comes Up Short

After flying high against Coon Rapids last Thursday, Blaine came back down to earth. The Blaine Bengals fell just short of the Elk River Elks by a score of 65-63 on Tuesday. The loss continues a trend for the Bengals in their matchups with the Elks: they've now lost five in a row.

Blaine's defeat dropped their record down to 14-12. As for Elk River, they are on a roll lately: they've won 15 of their last 16 games, which provided a nice bump to their 18-6 record this season.

Looking ahead, Blaine will square off against Maple Grove at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Elk River, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Osseo at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Osseo has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the contest with five straight losses, while Elk River will come in with ten straight victories.
