Football Recap: Clearwater Comes Up Short + How To Watch

Clearwater lost against Clearwater Central Catholic back in September of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Tornadoes received a blow as they fell 34-20 to the Marauders. While losing is never fun, the Tornadoes can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 91st, while the Marauders are ranked 15th).

Despite the loss, Clearwater still got an impressive performance from Jaylen White, who threw for 208 yards and one touchdown, and also rushed for 100 yards. White's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 100 rushing yards. Speaking of playmakers, who could forget Isaiah Berrien, who went all the way with a kickoff return for a touchdown.

Most of the squad's points came courtesy of special teams, who contributed 14 in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Berrien, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.

Clearwater Central Catholic's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Khayse Barrett led the charge by throwing for 131 yards and a pair of TDs while completing 75% of his passes, and also rushing for 57 yards. Luke Wilson was another key player, picking up 123 receiving yards and two scores.

This is the second loss in a row for Clearwater and nudges their season record down to 2-2. As for Clearwater Central Catholic, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.

Clearwater has already played their next contest, a 26-19 win against Largo on the 18th. As for Clearwater Central Catholic, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 49-0 victory against Gadsden County on the 19th.
