The Bridgeport Bulldogs will venture away from home to challenge the Shenandoah Zeps at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Bridgeport is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.9 runs per game this season.
Bridgeport barely beat Jefferson County Christian the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Bulldogs blew past the Royals 13-3 on Monday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Bulldogs considering their one-run performance the contest before.
Carson Sauvageot made a big impact no matter where he played. He struck out 14 batters over six innings while giving up three earned runs off only two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than 11 strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs and two RBI.

In other batting news, Connor Nelson was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. DANNY GOFF was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI.
Bridgeport always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .588. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Jefferson County Christian only posted an OBP of .259.
Meanwhile, Shenandoah came up short against Cambridge on Monday and fell 6-1. The Zeps have struggled against the Bobcats recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.
Shenandoah saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Carson Cline, who went 1-for-2 with one run.
Bridgeport has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.9 runs on average over those games. As for Shenandoah, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-18.
Shenandoah's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Bridgeport has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.6 hits per game. It's a different story for Shenandoah, though, as they've been averaging 9 hits. Given Bridgeport's sizable advantage in that area, the Zeps will need to find a way to close that gap.
Bridgeport beat Shenandoah 4-1 when the teams last played back in April. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bulldogs since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
