Baseball Recap: Shady Spring Extends Winning Streak to Six

Shady Spring extended their winning streak to six on Monday, bumping their season record up to 16-10-1 in the process. They never let the PikeView Panthers get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 18-10 back in April.

Sam Barnett was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two RBI.

In other batting news, Noah Fox was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Shady Spring is undefeated when Fox posts two or more runs, but 8-10-1 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Aiden Calvert, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Shady Spring always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .577. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as PikeView only posted an OBP of .125.

As for PikeView, they moved to 13-10 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak. The match marked the first time this season in which they were not able to get on the board.

On PikeView's side, they saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Landon Wyatt, who went 1-for-2 with one triple.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Shady Spring will square off against Greater Beckley Christian at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Tigers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Crusaders have averaged an impressive 7.7 runs per game this season. As for PikeView, they will challenge Princeton at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
