Volleyball Game Preview: Royal Valley Panthers vs. Hiawatha Red Hawks

The Royal Valley Panthers will head out to take on the Hiawatha Red Hawks at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Royal Valley and Perry-Lecompton meet (four straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Thursday. The Panthers took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Kaws.

While Royal Valley was not able to make it on the board, they still kept things close, especially in the first set. The match finished with set scores of 25-23, 25-14.

Meanwhile, Hiawatha unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-match winning streak on Thursday. They fell 2-0 to Rossville.

While Hiawatha ultimately came up short, they really made Rossville work, particularly in the second set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-16, 26-24.

Royal Valley's loss dropped their record down to 9-15-1. As for Hiawatha, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-19.

Royal Valley came out on top in a nail-biter against Hiawatha in their previous matchup back in September, sneaking past 2-1. Will the Panthers repeat their success, or do the Red Hawks have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
