Preview: Caravel Buccaneers vs. Holy Cross Knights
After three games on the road, Caravel is heading back home. They will finish 2023 at home by hosting the Holy Cross Knights at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the pair will really light up the scoreboard.
Caravel has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matches by 24 points or more this season. They were the clear victor by a 60-36 margin over Pearl River.
Meanwhile, the stars were shining brightly for Holy Cross in a 56-39 victory over Archbishop Molloy on Thursday. Given Holy Cross' advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 99th, while Archbishop Molloy is ranked 321st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Mona Okorie, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 24 rebounds. The contest was her third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kyara Champagne, who scored ten points along with three steals.
Caravel's win bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Holy Cross, their win was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-2.
