Baseball Game Preview: Goliad Tigers vs. Brazos Cougars

The Goliad Tigers are taking a road trip to take on the Brazos Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Goliad has eight straight victories, Brazos has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

The home team had come away the winner the last seven times Goliad and Nixon-Smiley had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Tigers put the hurt on the Mustangs with a sharp 14-0 win on Tuesday. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 matches by six runs or more this season.

Meanwhile, Brazos lost 10-3 to Almeta Crawford on Tuesday.

Brazos saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gunner Grigar, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.

Goliad's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-8. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Brazos, their loss dropped their record down to 13-11.
