Softball Recap: Schoolhouse Prep Gets the Win

Schoolhouse Prep won the last time they faced Gulf Coast and things went their way on Saturday too. The Wolfpack skirted past the Sharks 5-4. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Wolfpack.

Samantha Torres spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on three hits and racked up six Ks. Those six strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Francela Verdura, who scored two runs while going 2-for-2. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two). Valeria Vazquez was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

Schoolhouse Prep hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least two batters in three consecutive contests.

Schoolhouse Prep's win bumped their record up to 7-9. As for Gulf Coast, their defeat dropped their record down to 16-3.

Schoolhouse Prep didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 5-3 victory against Aubrey Rogers on the 12th. As for Gulf Coast, they will be playing at home against Neumann at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
