Pine Crest took a ten-run defeat the last time they faced off against Benjamin, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Panthers won by a run and slipped past the Buccaneers 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Panthers have posted since March 10th.

Jake Milton made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up a single earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Milton wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Micah Billig, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Pine Crest is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-5-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Benjamin, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-11 record this season.

Pine Crest and Benjamin should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings. The Panthers will face off against South Plantation at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank advantage (93 vs. 342). Meanwhile, Benjamin (ranked 199th) will meet Royal Palm Beach (ranked 401st) at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
