Basketball Recap: Dixie Comes Up Short

Dixie was the 48-41 winner over National Trail when they last played one another back in January of 2025, but their luck changed this time around. The Greyhounds took a 57-52 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Blazers on Friday.

Kellen Laird produced another solid performance shooting 70% from the field to rack up 16 points in addition to five rebounds and five steals for National Trail. Those 70% shooting accuracy gave Laird a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Tayden Blevins, who dropped a double-double with ten points and ten boards.

Dixie has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last ten games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-10 record this season. As for National Trail, their win bumped their record up to 10-6.

Coming up, Dixie will be playing in front of their home fans against Twin Valley South at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Greyhounds will be up against the Panthers' rather soft defense (which has allowed 55.38 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for National Trail, they and Northeastern will face off at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday without much rest, having both just played.
