Softball Recap: Kennedy Triumphs

After losing to West the last time they met, Kennedy decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Kennedy Thunderbirds walked away with a 10-5 win over the West Vikings on Saturday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Thunderbirds.

Paulette Race made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over five innings while giving up five earned runs off seven hits. Those 11 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, scoring three runs while going 2-for-5.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Faith Guerra, who scored four runs while going 4-for-4. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in runs. Another player making a difference was Makayla Vella, who scored four runs while going 2-for-4.

Kennedy hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most five strikeouts every time they've taken the field this season.

Kennedy now has a winning record of 2-1. As for West, they are on a 26-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Kennedy didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 25-5 victory against East Bakersfield on the 1st. As for West, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, an 11-10 win against McFarland on the 3rd.
