Basketball Game Preview: Hydro-Eakly Bobcats vs. Carnegie Wildcats

After both having extra time off, the Hydro-Eakly Bobcats and the Carnegie Wildcats will dust off their jerseys to take on one another at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that both suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Two weeks ago, Hydro-Eakly was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 50-45 to Southwest Covenant. The Bobcats have struggled against the Patriots recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Meanwhile, Carnegie had to suffer through a 61-28 loss at the hands of Fort Cobb-Broxton. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma basketball rankings (they are ranked 345th, while the Mustangs are ranked 136th).

Hydro-Eakly's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-4. As for Carnegie, they dropped their record down to 3-5 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Hydro-Eakly came up short against Carnegie when the teams last played back in February of 2023, falling 54-44. Can Hydro-Eakly avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
