Baseball Game Preview: South Grand Prairie Warriors vs. Bowie Volunteers

For the second straight game, South Grand Prairie will face off against Bowie. The Warriors will host the Volunteers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (South Grand Prairie 3.2, Bowie 3) so any runs scored will be well earned.

While South Grand Prairie's win against Bowie wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Warriors' pitchers stepped up to hand the Volunteers a 1-0 shutout on Tuesday.

Michael Maggart looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted two strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Daylon Brooks, who went 2-for-3 with one triple and one double.

South Grand Prairie is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-7-2 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Bowie, their loss dropped their record down to 22-10.
