Softball Recap: Roosevelt Roughriders vs. Garfield Bulldogs

Roosevelt and Garfield squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Roosevelt had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Bulldogs by a score of 11-10. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Bulldogs this season, with their most recent loss being a 15-3 defeat last Wednesday.

Samantha Wright and Madison Lee stepped up to the plate in a big way. Wright fired off three home runs, six RBI, and one stolen base while going 4-for-5, while Lee went a perfect 5-for-5 with one home run, four stolen bases, and four runs. Lee has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last six times she's played. Another player making a difference was Kate Torrie, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

This is the second loss in a row for Roosevelt and nudges their season record down to 12-10. As for Garfield, they have been performing well recently as they've won 13 of their last 16 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-5 record this season.
