Basketball Recap: Gulf Pointe Latin Starts Season with Victory Against Washington County Christian School

Gulf Pointe Latin gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Thursday. They really took it to the Washington County Christian School Lions for the full four quarters, racking up a 59-24 win. The contest was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Gladiators had established a 33-point advantage.

Gulf Pointe Latin's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Zach Roberson led the charge by putting up nine points and five rebounds. That's the most points Roberson has posted since back in November of 2024. Jacob Scarberry was another key player, posting nine points and three steals.

Washington County Christian School's defeat dropped their record down to 0-4.

Gulf Pointe Latin didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 63-52 loss against Central Christian on the 14th. As for Washington County Christian School, they will challenge Wiregrass on Monday.
