Basketball Recap: Wilson Triumphs

Wilson saw some tournament action on Thursday. They slipped by the Cedar Hill Longhorns 69-68. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Wildcats' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 408th, while the Longhorns are ranked 81st).

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Wilson to victory, but perhaps none more so than Michael Best, who went 8 for 14 on his way to 23 points and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Luke Walsh, who went 7 of 16 on his way to 17 points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals.

Wilson has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.0 points per game. As for Cedar Hill, their loss dropped their record down to 12-6.

Wilson wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 58-53 win against Nimitz on the 27th. As for Cedar Hill, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 66-56 victory against Wylie East on the 26th.
