Softball Recap: Marshall Takes a Loss

Marshall fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Tri-City United [Montgomery-Lonsdale/Le Center] on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Titans by a score of 9-8. The Tigers haven't had much luck with the Titans recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Sara Dallmann was huge no matter where she played even without the win. She struck out nine batters over eight innings while giving up six earned (and three unearned) runs off 12 hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

In other batting news, Bailynn Parsons made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Those RBI were her first of the season. Brynlee Dieken was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.

Marshall's loss dropped their record down to 5-11. As for Tri-City United [Montgomery-Lonsdale/Le Center], their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-5.

Coming up, Marshall will head out to face off against Luverne at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Tri-City United [Montgomery-Lonsdale/Le Center], they will be playing at home against New Ulm at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Titans will need to watch out since the Eagles have now posted at least ten runs in their last three matchups.
