Veterans Memorial had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They fell just short of the Jefferson Mustangs by a score of 54-52 on Saturday. Despite the loss, Veterans Memorial still got an impressive performance from Dj Jordan, who shot 5-for-8 from beyond the arc and almost dropped a double-double on 21 points and nine rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Jordan a new career-high in threes (five). Another player making a difference was Cj Shanklin, who earned four points in addition to six rebounds.
Trey Perez went supernova for Jefferson, going 9 for 19 en route to 27 points plus eight rebounds. Nico Vela was another key player, scoring nine points.
Veterans Memorial will head out to face off against SA Roosevelt at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Jefferson, they will welcome Madison at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
