Softball Recap: Church Point Finds Home Field Redemption Against Crowley

There's no place like home for Church Point, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Crowley Gent an 11-0 shutout on Thursday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Bears considering their one-run performance the contest before.

The team relied heavily on Halle Miller, who scored two runs while going 1-for-2. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (three). Reese Kirkpatrick was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-2.

Church Point was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .440. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Crowley only posted a batting average of .211.

Church Point's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-12-1. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.8 runs over those games. As for Crowley, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-8.

Looking ahead, Church Point will take on Acadiana at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Crowley, they will be playing at home against Carencro at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Gent are facing the Bears at the right time seeing as the Bears are stuck on a nine-game losing streak.
