The Downtown Doral Dolphins will challenge the North Miami Beach Chargers at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.
Downtown Doral took a loss when they played away from home two weeks ago, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. Everything went their way against Northwestern as Downtown Doral made off with a 13-3 win. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Dolphins considering their two-run performance the contest before.
Sebastian Chari looked comfortable as he tossed four innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off two hits. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in March of 2024.
At the plate, Robin Liberatore was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3. Sebastian Richards was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.
Downtown Doral always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .543. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Northwestern only posted an OBP of .292.
Meanwhile, after only one run in their last match, North Miami Beach made sure to put some runs up on the board against Homestead on Thursday. North Miami Beach was the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over Homestead. The Chargers' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Jordan Acevedo made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over 5.1 innings pitched. Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Gabriel Gamon, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 4-for-4. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Chris Polanco, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in both of his plate appearances.
North Miami Beach's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-4. As for Downtown Doral, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
