Baseball Game Preview: Poth Pirates vs. Stockdale Brahmas

The Poth Pirates will face off against the Stockdale Brahmas at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The last four games Poth has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Poth took a ten-run defeat the last time they faced off against Goliad, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. Poth came out on top in a nail-biter against Goliad on Friday, sneaking past 9-7.

The team relied heavily on Major Luna, who fired off two home runs and five RBI while going 2-for-5. Those two home runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jacob Clark, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.

Luna wasn't the only one working in the home run department: Poth lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Stockdale, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They walked away with a 4-1 victory over Nixon-Smiley on Friday.

Poth has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.1 runs over those games. Stockdale's victory bumped their record up to 9-7-1.

Poth couldn't quite finish off Stockdale in their previous meeting back in February of 2021 and fell 5-3. Can Poth avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
