Baseball Game Preview: San Jacinto Tigers vs. Elsinore Tigers

San Jacinto will venture away from home to face off against Elsinore at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

San Jacinto will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs last Monday, then bounced right back against Nuview Bridge on Monday. The Tigers were the clear victors by a 12-5 margin over the Knights.

Meanwhile, Elsinore had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6 runs) and they went ahead and made it six on Friday. They came out on top against the Mustangs by a score of 8-4.

Elsinore got a great performance from Isaiah Henderson as he pitched 6.1 innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. Henderson has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Robert Gates was a standout: he scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ivan Huerta, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Elsinore was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .438. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .308 or higher in four consecutive matchups.

Elsinore's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-6. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for San Jacinto, their record is now 9-12.

San Jacinto came out on top in a nail-biter against Elsinore in their previous matchup back in March of 2015, sneaking past 4-3. Will San Jacinto repeat their success, or does Elsinore has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
