The Harrison Huskies will take on the Eastchester Eagles at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Harrison sitting on 11 straight victories and Eastchester on five.
Harrison came out on top against Clarkstown South on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run sixth inning. The Huskies took their matchup against the Vikings 7-3.
Olivia Vasti was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. AlexiA CozzAli was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Eastchester put their dominant pitcher on display in the team's fifth consecutive shutout on Saturday. They never let Pelham Memorial get on the board and left with a 13-0 win. Considering the Eagles have won six games by more than seven runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Sarah Mascia tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit over five innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up a single earned run any time she's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, Sophia Gutirrez was a standout: she went 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Alyssa Peduto, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI and two runs.
Eastchester hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in seven consecutive contests.
Harrison's victory was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 14-2. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Eastchester, their victory bumped their record up to 11-5.
Tuesday's match might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Harrison has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .460. However, it's not like Eastchester struggles in that department as they've averaged .455. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
