Softball Game Preview: Auburn Mountainview Lions vs. Decatur Golden Gators

The Auburn Mountainview Lions will square off against the Decatur Golden Gators at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The timing is sure in Auburn Mountainview's favor as the team sits on three straight wins at home while Decatur has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.

Auburn Mountainview is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 16 runs on Monday, they were much more limited against Enumclaw on Wednesday. They lost 12-2 to the Hornets. The game snapped a strange streak: the last four times these teams have met, it?s been the away team that?s taken home the W.

Mia Heigh made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to home runs, as she's now launched at least one in each of the last seven games she's played.

Meanwhile, Decatur came into Wednesday's game having lost four straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. Everything went their way against Federal Way on Wednesday as they made off with an 18-8 victory. The Golden Gators might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by ten runs or more this season.

Sam Hackney was a standout: she went 2-for-5 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Kahea Sharpe was another key player, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with five runs and one stolen base.

Decatur lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in March.

Auburn Mountainview's loss dropped their record down to 15-4. As for Decatur, their win bumped their record up to 9-7.

Auburn Mountainview took their victory against Decatur in their previous matchup back in April by a conclusive 8-0 score. Will the Lions repeat their success, or do the Golden Gators have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
