Softball Recap: Roxana Takes a Loss

Roxana had taken Southwestern down for three straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Wednesday. The Shells fell just short of the Piasa Birds by a score of 3-2. The Shells were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Piasa Birds earlier this season, when they won 9-7.

Kassidy Schuyler spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on seven hits.

On the hitting side, Madison John was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

Roxana has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 14-11 record this season. As for Southwestern, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 18-10.

Roxana does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Southwestern, they will take on Red Bud at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Piasa Birds' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Musketeers have averaged an impressive 6.3 runs per game this season.
