Basketball Recap: Highland Falls Despite Big Games from Ava Cordova and Rebecca Neal

Highland was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They lost 52-32 to the St. Pius X Sartans. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Hornets have suffered since January 7th.

Highland's loss came despite strong showings from Rebecca Neal and Ava Cordova. Neal posted 14 points, while Cordova scored seven points and six rebounds. That's the most boards Cordova has posted since back in January of 2024.

Highland's defeat dropped their record down to 13-13. As for St. Pius X, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-7 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Highland will host Belen at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for St. Pius X, they will be playing at home against Valencia at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. St. Pius X is on a three-game streak of home wins, Valencia a five-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
